| Our Mission: Promoting Place Excellence The Place Leaders Association (PLA) is a non-profit membership organisation whose members are some of the leading place makers and place managers in the Australasian region today. The PLA’s mission is to actively promote leadership in the creation and stewardship of successful places throughout Australasia. Successful place making realises the transformation of public spaces into vibrant, welcoming places which are able to support, sustain and inspire present and future communities of residents, workers and visitors. Our full members are public sector agencies with a mandate for place making and place management of some of the highest-profile public places in the Australasian region. They are committed to ensuring that sustainability – economic, social and environmental – is inherent in these places. Their responsibilities range from extensive urban renewal and development projects, to relatively smaller-scale heritage building refurbishments and award-winning new constructions. Affiliate membership is also open to place-related public and private sector organisations involved in urban development and redevelopment, and professional consultancies, service organisations and academic or research institutions also involved in place-related fields. The PLA is a network of organisations that work together to achieve their place making goals and develop successful place making practices. We actively encourage information exchange between our members by creating networking opportunities and conducting workshops and research projects. Our member base continues to increase, and we invite place makers and managers who share our vision to join us in achieving successful place making and place management for future generations. |
